Philadelphia's Mayoral Candidates Town Hall on Disability. April 18th & 19th 4-6pm. Location Liberty Resources 112 N 8th Street Philadelphia. Free admission with registration. Light Refreshments 3:30-4:00
REV UP Philly is part of a national campaign to include the 60 million Americans with disabilities in the election process. Our mission is to foster civic engagement and protect the voting rights of Americans with disabilities. REV UP stands for “Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power!” We want to hear that candidates are including disability policies, hiring disabled candidates to work in at all levels, and working to improve accessibility in Philadelphia. Disabled people make up 17% of the population in Philadelphia and we want candidates to understand that our vote matters!
Our goals are to:
Get disabled people registered
Give disabled people access to the candidate’s information to make an informed choice
Get disabled people out to vote!
Candidates scheduled for April 19th: Derek Green, James De Leon, Rebecca Rhynhart , Allan Domb’s rep
Candidates available for April 18th: Maria Quinones-Sanchez, Helen Gym
We will offer additional candidates a place on an additional day (18th) if needed.
COVID Protocols:
Registration will be capped at 80 in person candidates per night
Masks are required
We hope that everyone will continue to use their best judgement on COVID precautions for our vulnerable community members.
Coalition members include: Disability Pride PA, Liberty Resources, Disabled in Action of PA, The Arc of Philadelphia, JFCS of Greater Philadelphia, Easterseals of SEPA, United Spinal Association of Greater Philadelphia Chapter, Disability Equality in Education, and many individual residents of Philadelphia.
