Liberty Resources Awarded $50,000 Grant from Philadelphia DA’s Violence Prevention Initiative

Liberty Resources is honored to be selected as a recipient of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Violence Prevention Grant Initiative. The $50,000 grant will directly support our mission to empower people with disabilities to live independently and safely within their communities.

We thank District Attorney Larry Krasner and the team at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office for recognizing the importance of community-led, disability-centered solutions in the fight to reduce violence. This investment strengthens our ability to build a more inclusive Philadelphia—one where all people, regardless of ability, are safe, seen, and supported.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our Independent Living Specialist, Rodney Whitmore, who shared his powerful story during the grant announcement press conference. As a disabled Black man directly impacted by gun violence, Rodney brings lived experience and unwavering advocacy to his work every day. His voice reflects the strength and resilience of so many in our community.

At Liberty Resources, we believe that independence is a right—not a privilege. This grant moves us closer to creating a city where access, safety, and opportunity are not just ideals—but realities for all.
