The PA State Health Insurance Assistance Program has counselors to help with Medicare Savings.  Call an Independent Living Specialist at Ext. 325 and mention “APPRISE” for more information.

Nursing Home Transition Program
Liberty Resources Nursing Home Transition Program provides assistance to people with disabilities who wish to transition out of costly and isolating nursing homes in Philadelphia County.  This transition helps people live full, independent lives in their own homes in the communities they choose.  To learn more about our Nursing Home Transition Program please contact 215.634.2000 Ext. 325.

Nicole’s Place
Open for ALL to purchase items for affordable prices J What you will find in the store: Clothes, Purses/Bags, Jewelry/Watches, Shoes, Household Items, Knickknacks, Art Pieces. All proceeds go directly back towards helping consumers live independently in the community.  Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 10:00 AM -3:00 PM.  Any questions call Shawn Ext. 245.

Peer Support
Connect with other disabled people one-on-one or in group settings. Call Bill Ext. 197 or Morgan Ext. 124.

Consumers may obtain free, clean, inspected, recycled wheelchairs and other devices. ReTreads also accepts used wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment. Open Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. Walk-ins welcome, or call Brandon at ext. 272 to set up an appointment.

Computer and Videophone
Liberty Resources has a computer and a Videophone that consumers can use Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. They are located on the 6th floor.

Every Tuesday

Legal Advocacy – Temple University’s Law School provides free advice and representation for Consumers on general legal problems. To schedule an appointment, call 215-204-1800.

March 1 Health and Wellness and Cooking! 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, As adults, we tend to take very good care of our aging parents and our children, but don’t necessarily take good care of ourselves.  Staying well is a full-time job!  Learn how you can maintain good physical and mental health through everyday practice and regular testing. March 6 & 13 Managing your Personal Assistant (MYPA). 1:00-3:00PM. Wade Blank Room A. This four-week Independent Living Skills Training Class will help you learn how to be in control of your own services and how to direct your attendant to meet your needs. Topics include Understanding Your Personal Assistance Services; Communication Skills; Home and Fire Safety; Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation and the Skills you will need if you choose to recruit, hire and, if necessary, fire your own attendant. March 9 & 23 Deaf Matters, Socialize with old friends and meet new people. Discuss what is happening in the world. Learn about Deaf rights. This is a group for people who wish to interact through American Sign Language. No interpreters are provided, 1:00-4:00 PM, Wade Blank Room.

March 10 Mama Chronicles, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, Wade Blank Room A.   A new group for Disable Mothers.  Call Latoya Maddox, Ext. 114.

March 12 Emergency Preparedness for all abilities: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. Wade Blank Rooms. Call Lauren, Ext. 123 or just show up! Wade Blank Room.

March 13 Men with Disabilities Peer Support Group Every 2nd Tuesday of month, 2:00-3:00 PM, Wade Blank B.  Are you a man with a disability?  Come to our Peer support group to discuss a wide variety of topics related to men with disabilities.  Age 18 and over.  If you need an interpreter please contact Rodney, Ext. 299.

Transportation Training
