Every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: Nicole’s Place is open for Consumer shopping from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Every Wednesday: Legal Advocacy – Temple University’s Law School provides free advice and representation for Consumers on general legal problems. To schedule an appointment, call 215-204-1800.
ReTreads: Formerly a “loaner” program, ReTreads now will give away clean, inspected, recycled wheelchairs and other devices to Consumers. Open 10:00 AM-3:00 PM Tuesday and Thursday, by appointment only. Call Ext. 272.
Visitability Committee meets monthly, Bacal Room, First Floor, 3:00-5:00 PM. To learn more about this effort to make all new constructed homes “visitable” for disabled people, call Nancy, Ext. 116.
"Policy Posse" meets twice a month, 1:00-3:00 PM. Learn about the issues facing the disability community; become an advocate for your civil rights! For meeting dates, call Cassie, Ext. 309.
Adult Literacy Classes: Consumers with physical, hearing or visual disabilities can improve their reading skills and even prepare for the GED (General Education Diploma). For more information, call Lynn, Ext. 114.

Please join Liberty Resources and other organizations advocating for people with disabilities at Disability Pride Day on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Franklin Square in Philadelphia.
This year’s event celebrates the anniversary of the historic June 22, 1999, Olmstead v. L.C. decision by the United States Supreme Court, which held that the unnecessary segregation of individuals with disabilities in institutions may constitute discrimination based on disability. The court ruled that the Americans with Disabilities Act may require states to provide community-based services rather than institutional placements of persons with disabilities. In short, the decision gave people with disabilities the right, by law, to live in the community.
